Class and Migration in Australia Workshop, Deakin University, 2024
This 2-day workshop, co-led by Dr Rose Butler (Deakin) and Dr Sylvia Ang (Monash), brought together leading Australia-based scholars in both class and migration studies to develop a new Australia-focused edited collection at the intersection of these two fields. Participants included A/Prof Christina Ho (UTS), Dr Taghreed Jamal Al-deen (La Trobe), Dr Catriona Stevens (Edith Cowan), Dr Alexandra Coleman (WSU), Prof Anita Harris (Deakin), Prof Megan Watkins (WSU) and Prof Greg Noble (WSU). This edited collection is forthcoming in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies (2025).

This half-day workshop was convened by Prof Michael Woods in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at Aberystwyth University. Situating Class and Power in Rural Australia, Aberystwyth University, 2023
This co-presentation by Dr Rose Butler and Dr Victoria Stead examined intersections of class with considerations of race, migration, coloniality, and other axes of power in historical rural sociological and rural studies literatures. It shared two case studies from south-eastern Australia and was supported by the Wales Institute for Social and Economic Research and Data (WISERD) and the Centre for Welsh Politics and Society.

A Special Issue from this workshop was published in the Journal of Rural Studies in 2023.
